Rain is my absolute favourite weather to run in.
Throw a bit of bluster in there, and I’m as happy as can be! Wind on its own is actually my least favourite running condition, but when the rain is lashing around in different directions, and when my face is burning and soaking wet, that feeling of being completely away from the comfort of real life is at its strongest. And that’s why I love to run!
This morning’s run was just that – rainy, blustery, wild. I wanted to get off-road and into the mud, but my feet hurt too much for cross-country today, so instead I took a nice 7-mile loop around the river, and back through the early morning city streets. Glorious!
What’s your favourite running weather?
Hmm, not sure. I certainly don’t like wind, but I can see how wind+rain would be exhilarating, though I usually avoid running in the rain, simply because it takes ages to dry my shoes afterwards here in Ireland! I like when the sun is out, but not too much heat – I would melt. Grey days just after the rain are also good; it’s much easier to breathe deeply then.
Running after rain is also my favourite…! Ahhh I love running all the time, hehe (except in wind without the rain, and ice, of course)!
